Christmas and New Art

Hey everyone.

As most of you know I am coming home for the christmas holidays. I'll be back between December 21 and January 7. Hopefully I get to see everyone. I'm sure I will that's lots of time. Also, I've been working on some new stuff. Here is one of my latest concepts. I've started to play around with rendering things using markers.

Hey everyone, I did a bit more work to the background on the King. I also put a lot more detail into his face. Let me know what you think please. Feedback is the only thing I have to go on and improve.

The Dark King Painting

Still coming a long, but this is where its at so far. Colors will be laid on top of the shading and a large fire like light behind him. Still not quite done the shading either. I want to put a lot more detail into his face, beard, and the shirt he has on under the coat.

Busy Life and Cans of Soup

so things have been crazy busy. My giant assignments are coming due and work is getting more and more stressful what with christmas coming up fast. The retail world is preparing to bleed the wallets of boyfriends , girlfriends, husbands, and wives dry. So naturally we have almost daily meeting about we are going to do that. Too bad the retail world cares nothing about the individuals who carry those wallets and the needs they may have. I miss the future shop in Thunder Bay. At least there the managers would stand behind you if there was an angry customer. Here they just simply observe that the customer is angry and phone your immediate supervisor to tell them that you are making customers angry. Of course they are angry, I work in the repair department. That means every idiot i talk to is holding a broken computer.

Anyway, money is tight so i live on canned soup. But its Chunky Soup. So i'm doing alright. Its good stuff. i've uploaded the finished version of the mech i put on here last post. I also uploaded it as a video game box front. Let me know what you think.

Today going into work was crazy. The santa clause parade is on today and its taking up most of downtown. About 20000 people all around the area of future shop. i took pictures cause it was pretty amazing.

Taking a pause for the Cause

Hey hey

I'm in class right now, but taking a pause for the cause so i thought I'd post a new message.
I am working on a game box and I'm really excited about it but i wish i had more time to do it. We have to create the art for the outside of a box for a video game. I am doing a PC game from my own imagination called 2063:Armored Heroes. A game where you pilot battle mechs against communist china in the year 2063. So, lots of paintings of mechs crushing cars and in cities and stuff. Good times.

Also, I don't know if any of you know good web designers, but I need a website put together professionally to upload my portfolio to and get a job. Brian, I don't know how much you know about that stuff, if you're awesome at it and i just don't know, tell me. lol. I'm trying to contact my old coworker, Kelly Mcinnis. Hes awesome at that stuff, but hes not answering my texts. If anyone is in future shop, go to the tech office and tell whoever is working to tell Kelly to email me. Thanks.

Another Regular Day At Work

Hey Crew,

So, I talk about work a lot so i thought I'd post a picture of me at work now that i have one.
This is me and Parth. He helped to find me that apartment that i'm looking at moving into. He's an awesome guy and has made my transition here a lot easier. Also, today I was trying to yell at a computer sales guy for trying to screw around with me and my tech office but it wasnt working. He didnt get that I was really really mad. Anyway, Parth taught me how to swear properly in Hindi, and some other languages that all the brown people here speak. So then I gave him a piece of my European mind in his East Indian tongue. Then he got it. lol.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. Always love hearing from you guys.

ps. Pete is coming here to see guns and roses. Im probably going, How awesome is that? yup.

A Random Day

Well, it rained today, and I didnt do much of anything.
I wrote an exam which went awesome. It was all on programming. In programming language i could tell you to move right by saying

Long Time No Post

Hey crew,
its been a while since ive written so i figured i should catch up.
Firstly, if youre wondering where my ads went, it seems that google decided that I am a threat to their financial well being and therefore cut off my account to their ads. Oh well. bahaha.
Other than that, life here has been pretty normal. Crazy busy, lots of homework. I posted some pictures. I am working on some cartoony stylized images based on the matrix. I may turn them into a comic book style thing. Im also working on a wallpaper scene right now. It will be a view from within the cockpit of a space fighter like the ones in battle star gallactica or if youve ever played Free Space II. Anyway, so the space station in progress that i posted is done in 3d studio max and will be part of the scene. The rest will all be done in sketchbook pro and in photoshop. I'll post the finished product when it is done.

In other news I am almost out of debt and I can start saving money for an apartment for Kate and I. If youd like to check the place out its at http://www.homestead.ca/property/?id=119#show
It looks like a nice place, hopefully everything works out and we can get in there. I want to move in around the 3rd week of march.

BSOD (blue screen of death)

Today was a normal day all around. I just went to work. But i wanted to share with you the blunder of the technological world and what it turns out like when stupid people try to manipulate it.
So today at work, someone probably messed with it, but the computer that does the display for the home theater department blue screened and it was displayed on huge monitors on the wall. Bahahaha.

Undeserved Funds

Hey everyone,

So today I was walking around downtown after writing an English test, which i dominated, and I saw some dude parking a bran new Ferrari California. Bright red. It was magnificent looking in the sun and in person. So i took a picture of it and decided to talk to the guy. Turns out that hes a giant asshole. I was all " nice california " and he was all "I dont have time to talk kid". Like get off your high horse and stop being an ass. If I had one of these, your damn right id talk to everyone about it.

Also, I live in a big city so now i have big city people pet peeves. Something that really gets me is how people use elevators. Such as when people use the elevator to move themselves one or two floors and they arent carrying anything. Really? just use the stairs. Idiots.

George Clooney

So today was awesome. I went to work from 11 to 7 and then after work i was walking home and I saw a little side street with a bunch of blacked out yukons on it and some people standing around. So i chilled out for a bit and about an hour later guess who walks out to see the crowd and get back in hos Yukon. Yup, George Clooney. Danny Ocean him self. I was pumped. It was awesome. Also Oprah was there too, but who cares about that.

First Day of Work and Pete's Secret

So I started work at the Future Shop and let me tell you, its not Thunder Bay future shop. The Tech office here is huge and tidy and it has a bunch of cool features and organization. But I hate it more than anything. They have 12 techs. Me, and one other guy are the only two people in the place that can fix any serious issues. We are also the only two who can speak english. Well properly anyway. Oh well, I'm getting paid.

In other news, Pete Deboer owns a high class furniture store in downtown Toronto and didnt tell anyone, not even his best friend. Thanks for sharing the wealth pete. :P

Coffee Shops and Money, Not Connected

Hey Crew

Okay so I found a right cool coffee shop. It only sells green coffee beans. So i have been roasting my own beans. It is awesome. The place was cool looking too. Its kinda in the middle of this sketchy area hidden behind some bushes and stuff. Completely inconspicuous. You go inside and everything is made out of wood and they have burlap sacks full of green coffee from all over the world.

On another note I know have almost no money except what pete and vonn gave me ( thanks guys :) ) As it turns out I had to buy a bunch of software and a tablet to use with photoshop. yay.

I know what youre thinking. "maybe if he didnt spend so much on coffee he'd have money" Yes, well since arrival i have only spend 10 dollars on coffee beans. The green beans are much less expensive cause you have to do quite a bit of work to use them.

Anywho, I start work tomorrow. I am now employed as a futureshop technician at store #067 corner of yonge and dundas.

Well, time to watch another episode of Chuck. Fantastic show by the way. Everybody I know should watch it. SO WATCH IT

A New Begginning

Hey Crew

So, I dont even know where to start. The last few days have been nuts. I have travelled 18 hours, I have had many encounters with strange people and I have managed to fit my entire life's belongings into my room down here which is basically a closet. I love the place I am living. The room isnt huge but the location is prime. Anything I could ever want is within walking distance from me. I found a cool coffee shop called the coffee zone. Its comparable to seattle but with a much more classy atmosphere. And its downtown Toronto so that automatically makes it better. But its No calicos, nothing tops that.

I visited the eatons centre yesterday, I need to stay away from that place. It is a giant money pit and has a bannana republic which as we know is my favorite clothing store. the manicans there are also posed strangely.

Today was awesome I went to the airshow and saw all kinds of wicked stuff like an F22 stunt pilot and a classic P51 Mustang from WWII. But alas I didnt get any good pictures of it.

Finally, tomorrow I am going for my interview at future shop and my first day of classes. Wish me luck.

Coffee at Calicos

Ok so, I officially leave on the 3rd of september. On the 1st I want to have everyone get together and have coffee at Calicos. It'll for sure be the last time I see anyone before I go. So, I rented out that private back room at calicos, It'll be good times. Please try to get the evening off work, we'll meet at Calicos at 19:00. (7PM) I'll see everyone then :)

Alright so cool news. I signed up for my courses and I have a pretty awesome schedule.
It is as follows;
Monday: Asset Developing 12noon-3pm
Tuesday: Modelling and Animation 3pm - 6pm
Wednesday: 2D interactive prototyping 8am-11am / 2D digital art 12 noon - 3pm
Thursday: Drawing Class 3pm - 6pm
Friday: off
Saturday: off
Sunday: off

So weekends are jazz club time. :) / homework...but whos calls it homework when you make video games at school. lol.

The Primrose

Hey Crew,
So i found a place to live. Giant weight off my shoulders. Its a pretty cool place. A building called the Primrose. Its at 111 Carlton St.
The building itself is pretty awesome looking from their website anyway, with a gym coffee shop and lounge area. I share a living space with one other guy. We both have our own locked room but we share the bathroom and kitchen. My room is very small, like 9 and a half feet by 6 feet. So, fitting my computer and coffee stuff is gonna be a challenge but i'll have to make it work because as we know, I cant live without either.

The Events Approaching.

Hey crew,
So, If you do not know already, but I think everyone does, I am moving to Toronto probably for the rest of my life. Or at least for the next large portion of it. I have been accepted into the Video Game Design program at George Brown College, a program that I had initially had little hope of gaining admission to. While this is a great opportunity for me and for my future, I am still apprehensive to leave. The tasks that need to be completed before my departure are seemingly inumerable and very overwhelming. Never the less the show will go on and I will continue to make the best of life. All of you have been awesome. I could never have made it this far without you. There is no way for me to thank all of you for your continued support and advice.
If I dont see any one of you before I leave i sincerely appologize, I am extremely busy with trying to find somewhere to live and whatnot. I leave around the 25th. Please check the blog every once in a while, I'll keep posting and uploading photos.
